Are you accustomed to visiting the spa for a nice relaxing Swedish Massage session, with maybe a bit of Deep Tissue work when your back or shoulders are extra tense?
This isn't exactly that. I can add more relaxing strokes, but ultimately this service will heavily include modalities like Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release to target the restricted soft tissues in the body. I'm no doctor, and this is not medical massage. But it is a deep, to-the-point approach to therapeutic massage, with some relaxing techniques mixed in to smooth out the experience.
Thai Massage is my primary practice, and my favorite way to get strait to the heavy lifting (sometimes literally) of addressing the deepest restrictions and traumas in the body.
Some call it "Thai Yoga Massage" and focus heavily on passive and assisted stretching. While I do this, my focus is more on the hands-on (and feet) benefit that working from the mat offers. I have more help from gravity in applying pressure to the right place. I'm more able to position my client's body so I can leverage into that right place. Also, this frees me up to use my feet and even knees. I'm able to access far more useful tools for the job of gently and intuitively facilitating the body's natural ability to release its tension.
This is a very effective treatment for everything from athletic training/recovery to chronic pain and bad posture.
